The United States has introduced new sanctions against Venezuela, this time targeting the military officers who were involved in stopping food aid.
Several US media, among them CNN, report on the new sanctions against six officers involved last weekend in stopping US shipments to Venezuela.
According to AFP, at least four people lost their lives when the military stopped shipping, which included 178 tons of rice, beans and other food.
Withdrawing visas for officials
The military’s possible assets in the US will thus be frozen and it will also be prohibited for US companies to do business with them. At the same time, the United States withdraws visas for 49 Venezuelan officials.
The US and Canada have previously directed sanctions against the regime in Venezuela, led by President Nicolás Maduro.
